British and French, Olivier Fredj studied British Literature, drama and music at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in the Netherlands.
Starting off as a coordinator of educational and social projects in several cities around Europe and South Africa, he then worked as a cultural journalist before attending the Studio Théâtre d'Asnières.
He then worked as a Stage Manager with Adrian Noble, John Eliott Gardiner, Jonathan Kent / William Christie at Opéra Comique, Théâtre de Caen, BAM or Champs Elysées Theater….
In 2010, begins his collaboration with Robert Carsen and the Théâtre du Châtelet, with My Fair Lady which he revives at the Mariinski Theater in St Petersburg and in 2015 with Singin 'In the Rain. At the Châtelet, he assists Lee Blakeley for Sweeney Todd and revives The Sound of Music (by Emilio Sagi).
at the Festival d'Aix en Provence Robert Carsen offers him to work on Rigoletto that he revives in Geneva and at the Bolchoï theater in Moscow. In Aix he first collaborates with Simon McBurney on his Magic Flute.
In 2015, he direct Il Re Pastore by WA Mozart at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
This season, he directed Macbeth by Verdi at the Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie in Brussels and at Teatr Wileki in Poznan, Poland and will stage the inauguration of a new theater “La Seine Musicale” in Paris.

In April 2017, he signs the opening Gala of la Seine Musicale in Paris and writes and stages in 2018 Funeral Blues, the Missing Cabaret (Auden / Britten), revived in 2019 at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord.
In 2018-19, at the Théâtre Marigny, he direct " Good evening »By and with former culture minister Frédéric Mitterrand, sings the Prince in Donkey skin . He directs the semi-staged version of Der Freischütz at Theater an der Wien, Barbican and Bozar for Insula Orchestra.
He conceives and direct Watch , Voyages Divers , for Orchester de Chambre de Paris, with pianist Shani Diluka and DJ Matias Aguayo, at the MC93. A social projects with inmates from Prison de Meaux and co-written with homeless shelter residents, elderly people and chronicle diseases patients.
In 2020_21, after directing The journey to the moon by Jacques Offenbach at Opéra de Montpellier, he conceives and direct for La Monnaie in Bruxelles, "The Queen and her favorite" and "The King and his favorite", two concerts for one spectator streamed live on bel canto pieces by Rossini and Donizetti.
Finally, he direct Tosca by Puccini at Opéra de Lille.
projects : The Voyage to the Moon in Marseille, Nice, Limoges, Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy, Compiègne ...
and Bastarda , from G. Donizetti, an opera-series in two evenings on the life of Elizabeth I at La Monnaie-De Munt.
Stage Director
