In a world without the Other, everything rolls, well, everything turns.
The Earth around the sun, the Earth on itself, the moon around the Earth, the Administration around its regulations, Love in circles, our certainties in a loop and the human around us.
In Le Voyage dans la Lune, the inhabitants of both the Moon and the Earth are convinced that the Other does not exist, that no other planet is inhabited, that they are alone in the universe. Each has its system well established, which runs well, and intends to keep it that way.
And yet, a capricious youngster and a whimsical princess will overcome this perpetual cycle and by their encounter will bring about an unprecedented revolution in the solar system.
A volcano will explode, would the world be destroyed? Finally no, meeting this Other whose existence we denied simply offers a new perspective, and a little distance, on this Earth and its system that we thought to be immutable.
Here is a very “earthly” paradox: our societies and our cultures, in particular Western ones, are convinced
to have traveled the world, to know everything. It is difficult for us to envision other cultures and other codes of values.
For me, this is the deep meaning of this Journey to the Moon when it was created. Today, I want to illuminate our world with a new light by what in the work will make us laugh; because what makes people laugh is at the same time grotesque and fantastic and knows how to benevolently mock the human being and his vanity, his systems and his fears.
