"Take ... / ... take flour

pour into the… /… pour into the terrine… ”

The making of the love cake by Catherine Deneuve in the film directed by Jacques Demy is a delicious scene. In the cake intended for the prince, Donkey skin slips its ring, a clue that will free it from its sad skin.  Because princesses, whether they are called Donkey Skin, Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella always end up in the arms of a prince. Obedient and wise, they overcome (without flinching) the wickedness, humiliation and harshness of the life of the poor, before - thanks in particular to the help of benevolent godmothers - the pink path of their destiny opens.

Peau d'âne was the greatest public success of Jacques Demy's career. Released in December 1970, the film seduced the public with the refinement of the staging, the enchantment of the sets and costumes, the breathtaking cast (Catherine Deneuve, Jean Marais, Jacques Perrin, Delphine Seyrig, Micheline Presle) and the melodies by Michel Legrand.
